Uro-oncology, or urological oncology, is a cancer discipline that deals with cancer of the male and female urinary tracts, as well as, the male reproductive organs. Urological oncology is concerned with the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of urological cancers that affect the urinary bladder, kidney, prostate, penis, and testicles.

A robotic partial nephrectomy is performed by making small incisions in the abdomen where the robotic surgical equipment and camera can be inserted. The abdominal cavity is then inflated with carbon dioxide gas to provide space for the manipulation of the surgical equipment and camera to access the cancerous tissues.

Prostatectomy is the surgical removal of the prostate gland and accessory glands called seminal vesicles. It is an effective treatment for men with early stage prostate cancer. The prostate is removed whole so the entire prostate can be examined under a microscope by a pathologist. This pathologist can determine how much cancer is present, exactly where it is located.

The procedure to remove the entire bladder is called a radical cystectomy. In men, this typically includes removal of the prostate and seminal vesicles. In women, radical cystectomy usually includes removal of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and part of the vagina. After removing your bladder, your surgeon also needs to create a new way to store urine and have it leave your body.
